Cold, bare; the view frigid
The icy landscape; stark, unfair.
Unhappy tree roots, pulled out
Of the harsh frozen ground
As sparse leaves hang on,
Stubborn, refusing to drop down.
Across the slick frozen surface
Flowing water – solidified and white
Stands a sad, bare forest;
Mixed with lush evergreen pines.
Just as all things change
The blessing; the curse of time
What is now dull, gray,
Soon again, will be sublime.
Living water will swiftly flow
In warm pools of blue
Tree roots will heartily drink
Nature’s elixir; gaining life anew.
The healing promise of spring
New buds will cover branches
When warmed by the sun
Revealing a freshly painted canvas.
Once open; brimming with life
Decorated trees, cheerful and bright.
For now, a future view
My mind’s eye can see;
The dull gray, once again,
A colorful landscape, will be.
Beautifully descriptive!

I love the way you provide an image for all your poems( The ones I’ve read, at least.) Yeah – it’s still powerful enough to create an image in my head, but there’s something ‘special’ about sharing what you are actually viewing and have been inspired by. If that makes sense?
Whatever – I love it. 🙂
Oh, thank you so much! Yes – I like to put pictures with each one… either find one to match what I’m thinking or inspire what I will write about. This photo definitely inspired the poem. I really enjoy taking photos, so it’s a win-win!
