Box after box, young Sally opened

Was empty, each seal already broken

Crumpled wrapping paper littered the floor

As Sally looked at her parents asking for more

“All the boxes are empty. I got nothing at all!”

They watched their daughter’s smile fade and fall

“Oh, dear Sally, please don’t be sad.

This isn’t the worst thing. In fact, let’s be glad.

We’re here together and blessed with health!
