Feasted and Cheered

I saw a pumpkin

On the side of the road

Covered with leaves

Its face barely showed

One triangle eye

A small button nose

And a pumpkin stem

Out of the leaves rose

When a gust of wind

Moved fall debris

Down a steep hill

The pumpkin rolled free

Over bumps and stumps

The gourd broke apart

In a trail of orange

Abstract art

It wasn’t long

Before critters appeared

Squirrels and chipmunks

Feasted and cheered

Gathering it all

Their cheeks became round

‘til no more remnants

Of pumpkin were found

Thanks for stopping by!
