Tea Leaves

Come girls

Gather ‘round

There are secrets here

To be found;

We called her Kewpie

Named after the doll

Because she never much liked

The sound of Grandma at all;

Around the table

Nicely set for tea

She poured the hot brew

Over a sugar cube for sister and me;

Swallow after swallow

As quick as we could

Our cups were drained

Then tipped like she said we should;

With a twinkle in her eye

She peered down inside

As she pointed out the pattern

The tea leaves left behind;

Your cups show the same

For both of you girls

Sweet and unique

Like specially made pearls;

You girls have bright futures

With much to achieve

If you don’t believe me

It’s right here in the leaves

Thanks for stopping by!
