Whoever doesn’t believe
In wishing trees
Has never crossed paths
With this special species;
As gifts to pick
Wishes hang from branches
For the lucky few
They provide second chances;
But these wishes aren’t granted
Without a cost
Pick too many
And good fortune you’ll have lost;
But if you plant a wish
On chosen ground
Up will spring a tree
With new wishes to be found;
It’s the cycle of life
That keeps the wishing tree alive
And a few rules
Ensure this special tree survives;
You must always be thankful
And always believe
Wishes grow on trees
Even when there are no leaves;
Never be greedy
And if you pick more than one
Always plant the second
For the generations to come
