Tiger lily stands tall

And lets out a roar

Reminding all

He will not be ignored;

At the first sight of orange

And black spots and stripes

All the flowers bow down

To this predator’s might;

He’s the fiercest in the garden

Showing no regard

For the solitary rose

Or daisy army in the yard;

Until a new neighbor

Transplanted this year

Announces her name

And Tiger lily jeers;

As the rest of the flowers

Look on in delight

The colorful blooms

Of Snapdragon ignite
