Rise above
The noise below
A cache of troubles
From today and long ago;
Heavy rocks carried
In an overcrowded mind
Compiled as character builders
Remembered but not defined;
By their weight and numbers
A strong foundation laid
A stack of life lessons
To climb over and cascade;
As roots sink in the soil
Branches reach to the sky
Buds appear and turn to blooms
Revealing beautiful revelations in time;
From the past and the present
Unique experiences meld together
In a pleasing display that proves
You can’t have one, without the other.
So beautiful, always something to ponder in your writings!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
Lovely! A thoroughly pleasing poem, beautifully presented and with appealing imagery. Love the metaphors and especially these lines:’Heavy rocks carried
In an overcrowded mind
Compiled as character builders
Remembered but not defined;’
Adore the pic you chose – is that one from your own files or from say Flickr? I’m looking for a site where I can post my poems and add a pic form the net, e.g. a flickr image.
Thank you so much, Eleanor! I do use my own photos. This one in particular, my husband took. Sometimes I take a photo to match a poem I already have in my head, and other times I take a photo that then inspires words. It’s fun either way!
Lovely and inspiring!
Thanks, Iris – I appreciate your comment!
You’re welcome, Jessica.
