As I drove around

A glimpse of autumn

Colors I found

… Gold and orange

Rust and maroon…

Signs the season

Would be here soon

Born of summer’s

Carefree days

Autumn dies trying

To keep winter away

And though it faces

A losing fight

Autumn never fails

To bring delight

A glimpse of autumn

In my side view mirror

Showed me it’s closer

Than it appears
