Echoes

Can you hear the laughter

Traveling through the air

From the long-lost echoes

Of yesteryear;

When the children played

‘til the last light of day

Then chased fireflies

And let them guide their way;

Down the worn footpaths

And past the garden fountain

Still alive with the sounds

Time has forgotten;

On any given day

Be still and listen

Transported to a world

That isn’t all that distant;

From the here and now

Where new children play

Along footpaths they run

Through the fountain spray;

To the house on the hill

Where memories stay

As the innocent echoes

Of yesterday
