Playing peekaboo With the dirt below Whimsical petals In the sun glow In pastel shades Pearly white Tiny flowers rise To hug the light Kissing the dark Cold dirt goodbye Embracing the day Reaching for the sky
Whenever you feel like You’re not enough Stop being judgmental Stubborn and tough You’re not perfect Nor am I We’re all just doing Our best to get by So, show a little patience With friends and foes ‘cause the sooner we learn this The better life goes
If we had a bird’s eye view Would we ever leave our nests To walk amongst the chaos When we could fly above the mess

She caught herself staring At a desolate tree Peeling bark and leafless branches Reaching Into the cold Crystal blue sky Where puffy clouds floated Aloofly by Unaware of its reach For something Nothing Anything at all She caught herself staring At a cardinal Just starting to sing And found a lifeline Between Fall and spring
